Municipal or Highway Guardrails? Define the Supply Boundary

Green corrugated guardrail beam beside posts

For the QY ranges compared here, municipal guardrails describe panels with rails, infill and posts; highway guardrails describe a beam-based package with posts, spacers and end components. Read the product designation in the project drawing, then state whether the request covers panels, beams alone or a component package. Split a mixed list into separate supply lines. If the request gives only a location or the words “road guardrail,” leave the system unconfirmed and ask for the project designation.

Read the component schedule before routing the request

QY’s municipal guardrail page identifies top rail tube, frame size, vertical bars and infill pattern. Its post details include spacing, base plates, anchors or embedded fixing as items to confirm. For a drawing that identifies this panel range, keep the panel and its stated post/fixing scope together.

QY’s highway guardrail page describes beam profile, beam thickness, post type, spacer, terminal layout, coating and accessories. It names W-beam, thrie-beam or a project-specified profile. For a drawing that identifies a beam system, clarify whether the requested supply is the beam alone or a package of named components.

These photographs illustrate visible construction only. They do not establish dimensions, material grade, coating specification, impact performance or suitability for a project. Keep the required safety function and system approval with the responsible project parties.

Give each supply line an explicit boundary

Use the confirmed product designation to choose the relevant supply description. The following routes organize an inquiry; they do not select a road safety system.

Documented request Supply line to describe Boundary to clarify
Municipal panel designation Panel, rail/frame and infill Which posts, fixing parts and accessories are included or excluded?
W-beam, thrie-beam or specified beam profile Beams alone, or a named beam-component package Which posts, spacers, fasteners and end components are included or excluded?
Both product designations in one project Separate panel and beam supply lines Which drawing, location mark and component schedule belongs to each line?

Write “to be confirmed” beside an unspecified inclusion. Do not fill a missing accessory entry by copying the other product’s component list. If a designed connection between systems is involved, request its project detail instead of treating the two supply lines as an approved connection.

Split a mixed schedule without inventing specifications

The following is a hypothetical wording example, not a customer order or a manufacturing specification. Replace the placeholders only with the project’s confirmed information:

Item A — municipal guardrail panels; drawing [reference/revision]; panel and post scope [included components]; fixing/accessories [included, excluded or to be confirmed]; quantity basis [project schedule].

Item B — highway guardrail [specified beam profile]; drawing [reference/revision]; supply [beams only or named component package]; posts, spacers, fasteners and end components [included, excluded or to be confirmed]; quantity basis [project schedule].

Keep each line attached to its own drawing and component schedule. If the project specifies only one of these ranges, use only that line. Leave the other out rather than treating it as a substitute.

Resolve the designation, then use the detailed product guide

If the description, photograph and project drawing do not agree, ask the project team to identify the intended product and required function. Send the unresolved wording and the relevant drawing to QY for supply-scope clarification. QY’s contact page accepts mixed product lists for separation and clarification.

Once the designation is clear, continue with the municipal panel and post details or the highway beam-package RFQ details. Those guides cover the next specification questions; the useful first result here is a separate, named supply scope for each product.
