Expanded & Perforated Sheet Notes
Clarify expanded metal and perforated sheet details: strand size, SWD/LWD, hole pattern, pitch, open area, thickness and sheet format.
RFQ preparation
Separate expanded metal notes from perforated sheet notes
Expanded metal and perforated sheet both look like sheet mesh, but their production methods and drawing details are different. This page helps buyers confirm the right dimensions before sending RFQs.
Use the right Wire Mesh resource page Start with Specification Guide for general RFQ structure, then use this page for the more specific notes shown below.
Expanded vs perforated sheet review matrix
| RFQ item | Details to confirm | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Expanded metal mesh | SWD, LWD, strand width, strand thickness, raised or flattened type and opening direction. | Controls sheet stiffness, appearance, walking feel, weight and installation orientation. |
| Perforated metal sheet | Hole shape, hole diameter, pitch, staggered or straight pattern, open area and margin. | Affects ventilation, filtration, screening, light transmission and visual uniformity. |
| Sheet format | Sheet thickness, width, length, flatness, cut-to-size tolerance and edge treatment. | Prevents mismatch with frames, panels, guards, facades and machine covers. |
| Finish and packing | Galvanized, powder coated, painted, stainless, protective film, pallet size and bundle labels. | Protects surface appearance and helps site sorting for multiple sheet sizes. |
