Wire mesh inquiries often use the same words for different products. This page keeps the RFQ path clear: first define the product family, then confirm opening or hole data, then send drawings, quantity, finish and packing needs.

RFQ specification matrix

RFQ field What to send Why it matters
Product family Welded wire mesh, woven wire mesh, expanded metal mesh or perforated metal sheet. Each family uses different opening language, tooling, edge treatment and packing method.
Opening / hole data Opening size, pitch, mesh count, SWD/LWD, hole diameter, slot size or drawing. Small wording differences can change open area, weight, strength and quotation basis.
Wire / sheet size Wire diameter, strand width, strand thickness, sheet thickness or gauge. Controls rigidity, rollability, panel flatness, load behavior and material cost.
Format and edge Roll width and length, panel size, sheet size, cut-to-size pieces, framed or unframed edge. Prevents misunderstanding in production layout, packaging volume and installation preparation.
Material and finish Low carbon steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, PVC coated or powder coated finish. Finish selection affects corrosion resistance, appearance, lead time and export packing protection.
Quantity and packing Pieces, rolls, sheets, total area, destination, pallet size, crate request and shipping marks. Gives a practical price, production plan and freight-ready packing proposal.

When to use each detailed page

Use opening notes when sizes are unclear

Best for inquiries that mention 50 x 50 mm, 1/2 inch, mesh count, gauge, roll width or panel tolerance without a drawing.

Use welded vs woven when function drives the choice

Best for guards, baskets, filtration, screening and flexible mesh where construction method changes the product behavior.

Use sheet notes for expanded or perforated products

Best for architectural panels, machine guards, screens and sheet-based orders that need open area or hole pattern control.

Common details missing from Wire Mesh RFQs

Opening wording

  • Clear opening vs center-to-center pitch
  • Mesh count vs millimeter opening
  • Hole diameter vs pitch for perforated sheet

Finish environment

  • Indoor dry use, outdoor weather or wet exposure
  • Stainless grade or galvanizing request
  • Color and coating thickness expectation

Packing format

  • Roll, panel or sheet packaging
  • Pallet size and loading restriction
  • Project marks for site sorting
Drawing tip If you have a reference sample, installation photo or hand sketch, send it with the RFQ. It often confirms the mesh family faster than text alone.
